Animal Rugs: Authentic Hide, Animal Print and Figure Rugs

Animal rugs are available in several different forms. There are of course the classic animal rugs made of actual animal hides. These include many varieties of modern and western style cowhide rugs, traditional bearskin rugs, the more exotic and often illegal wild animal rugs, as well as the simple, classic sheepskin rug. If you are going to buy an actual animal hide rug, you are best off purchasing one made from the hide of an animal already slaughtered for agricultural purposes such as the cowhide or sheepskin rugs. Killing a wild animal, either yourself or by proxy by buying a product made from a poached hide, is a shameful waste of life. If it is simply the design or style of an exotic animal hide that you desire, you are much better off simply purchasing an animal print rug. If you truly desire an authentic animal hide with the design pattern of a wild animal, it is entirely too easy to find animal print rugs in almost any pattern dyed on either cowhide or sheepskin. A zebra rug on cowhide is a much less wasteful and more ethical choice than an actual zebra hide.

Animal print rugs come in almost any variety imaginable. You can easily find giraffe print rugs, tiger print rugs, or jaguar print rugs if you so desire. A leopard print rug is another popular choice with many people. These animal print rugs are available on wide variety of materials ranging from hides as mentioned above to wool to synthetic materials. You needn’t limited your selection of colors to those found naturally in the animal pattern you choose. Surprising as it may be, these natural patterns are also available in colors the full spectrum of the rainbow and beyond. A hot pink and black zebra print rug may be just what you are looking for, while someone else might prefer a leopard print rug in pink and purple. If you shop around, you will easily find exactly the combination of animal hide pattern print, colors and materials you want. Then again, the natural colors found in various animal patterns are quite attractive. The choice you make will depend upon your individual taste but you can rest assured that with a little persistence, you can find an animal rug in almost any hide pattern or color scheme that you desire.

The last popular category of animal rugs is comprised of animal figure rugs. These rugs feature a depiction of a given animal either as a central figure around which the remainder of the rug’s design revolves, or as a recurring image placed throughout the rug or used as part of a border design pattern. A few even use an animal figure, or groups of animal figures, as a bridge between the rug’s central field and its border design. Good example of this variety of animal rugs are rooster rugs which are popular in both American and French country themed decorative plans and horse rugs which are popular in many American homes, especially those featuring a western theme. These rugs are normally produced in conventional sizes and shapes and made from materials such as wool, polypropylene or other such common rug materials. They differ from conventional rugs only in that they feature decorative depictions of animals. This makes them a good choice for someone who is particularly fond of a given animal but whose overall interior design scheme would clash with less conventional animal hide or animal print rugs.

As you can see, there are plenty of different styles of animal rugs to choose from. Whether you prefer and authentic hide, a wild animal print, or simply a conventional rug with an animal themed design, you can easily find the animal rug you are looking for. Just look around online and see all that you can find!
